Network Unreachable Error

Network unreachable - Here is word straight from Google: "This can happen when Googlebot encounters a time-out or other network related issue when requesting a file from your site, and thus is forced to abandon the request. This can be caused by one or more of the following:

A DNS configuration issue."

To revolve network unreachable errors first you need to run a few tests:

http://web-sniffer.net - This tool was recommended by Google employee's and helped me when dealing with my client's issue. Basically it show whether the crawler can access the site. To test for Googlebot use following settings: HTTP/1.1 (checked), Request type: Get, User Agent: Googlebot.

http://www.intodns.com - gives nice report of all the possible issues with your site's hosting and DNS configuration. If it spots problems, these issues should be resolved with your hosting company or domain registration company.

Possible findings & Solutions:

500 internal server error - This is a 'catch-all' error generated by the Web server. Basically it says there is a problem, but the server can not be more specific about the error condition in its response to the client. As well as the notification to the client of the 500 error, the Web server should generate an internal error log which gives more details of the problem.

To resolve 500 internal server errors it best to contact your hosting company. Sometimes scripts running on a web site can cause these types of errors to appear as well.

DNS configuration issue - This type of issue results from incorrect settings for name servers or a records. Usually, if you have issues here the site will not be accessible not only to the search engines but to anyone. It can be resolved by contacting your domain registrar and hosting company.

HTTP Status Code: HTTP/1.0 404 Not Found - This happens when page or the document couldn't be found. One issue that is important to note is the usage of upper and lower cases in the file names. Make sure the cases used are consistent.
